Customer Requirements and Implementation

During development and rollout of Siemens PLM Teamcenter solution SSL evaluated several PDF technology products. Their goal was to automate the conversion of a large number of multiple drawings and MS Office documents to PDF format. The conversion had to be efficient, robust and highly accurate. It became apparent that the components of PDF Tools AG have one of the highest performance/price ratios.

For this reason IT development decided to integrate PDF Tools AG's PDF Batch Stamp Tool, 3-Heights Image to PDF Converter, and 3-Heights PDF Extract, with the PLM Teamcenter for batch processing. They developed the required scripts and incorporated the calls in the back office scenarios with PLM Teamcenter application.

Customer Benefits

With the implementation of PDF Tools AG products, the manual process was replaced by an automated back office batch process which is hidden from users. SSL is able to run multiple drawings and various types of MS Office documents, and to create and sort back PDF documents into PLM Teamcenter. Over 25,000 documents were released of which 15,000 with image file. The release of these documents generated approximately 1,200,000 pages.
