Contents of the seminar

Overview: When do PDFs have to be accessible? Who are the users who benefit from accessible PDFs? What standards and laws apply? How much extra work and cost is caused when accessible PDF has to be created? How much do PDFs have to made accessible?

Basics: How does accessibility work in the field of IT and electronic documents? How does it work for PDF? What is the best approach to put accessibility rules to work for PDF documents?

Execution: How to create accessible PDFs? How to evaluate the quality of an accessible PDF, and how to prove they sufficiently accessible? What needs to be ensured to comply with standards and regulations? Which applications and tools are recommended for those creating or checking accessible PDFs?

Who should attend?

The seminar targets staff and managers from government agencies and enterprises, media service providers and publishers, students and teachers at schools and universities, as well as associations and charities, who wish to acquire a solid and practical understanding about how to create accessible PDFs from Adobe InDesign, and how to evaluate the quality of accessible PDFs.

What to take home from the seminar?

The seminar enables attendees to create accessible PDFs themselves, to define minimal requirements to be met by accessible PDFs, and to evaluate the degree to which such requirements are met by a given PDF document. Furthermore, after the seminars attendees will be able to detect weaknesses in existing PDF creation processes and to design sustainable strategies that increase the quality of accessible PDF creation over time.
