The comment window has now closed on the US Access Boards NPRM for the refresh of Section 508.
While oriented towards WCAG 2.0, the NPRM included PDF/UA as an option for PDF documents.
PDF Association Executive Director Duff Johnson, the chair of the US committee for PDF/UA since 2005, delivered two sets of comments to the US Access Board pertaining to PDF/UA.
In his testimony Duff argued the case for interoperability, proposing that the Access Board should explicitly require PDF/UA for PDF documents covered by the regulations.
In addition to his own testimony, Duff has analyzed the other comments discussing PDF/UA, and has summarized them in a blog post.
