The PREFORMA project, lead funder of the veraPDF consortium’s effort to develop industry-supported PDF/A validation, is inviting the digital preservation community to attend its Experience Workshop on improving long-term digital preservation in Berlin on November 23 2016.
PDF Association members and other developers interested in digital preservation are invited to attend!
The workshop’s objective is threefold:
- Demonstrate the conformance checkers for file-formats developed in the project
- Involve memory institutions outside the PREFORMA consortium in testing, using and further developing the software
- Share the experience gained by PREFORMA memory institutions working with developers under R&D service agreements.
Hosted at the Kulturforum in Berlin, the event will feature:
- talks by international experts in digital preservation on the means and significance of establishing conformance of digital files against standard specifications
- live demonstrations of the software developed by the three suppliers working in the project (the veraPDF consortium, Easy Innova, MediaArea)
- keynote presentations by representatives from the European Commission on the opportunities offered by the Pre-Commercial Procurement instrument
- an informal networking event where the attendees can share experiences, meet the PREFORMA developers and learn about the tools
