25 years of PDF, 10 years as an ISO standard / Save the date: May 14-16

Berlin. This year’s PDF Days Europe will mark a double anniversary: 25 years of PDF and ten years of the format’s status as an ISO standard. The keynote speech reflecting on PDF’s history will be given by Richard Cohn, Principal Scientist at Adobe, and co-author of the first PDF specification. Users, developers and integrators should save May 14-16 for the year’s best known and most popular PDF event, at the Hotel Steglitz International in Berlin.

“Based on a survey of participants from last year’s PDF Days Europe, we are offering over 30 sessions in three redesigned tracks,” explained Thomas Zellmann, managing director of the PDF Association. “The ‘PDF for users’ track includes case studies and practical solutions for business processes. ‘PDF for developers’ includes technical presentations on new functionality defined in the PDF 2.0 specification, while ‘PDF’s marketplace’ includes usage statistics and discussions on the future of PDF, as well as subjects geared to the interests of PDF Association members.”

Fittingly for the tenth anniversary of PDF’ becoming an ISO standard, standardization will play a significant role this year. The focus will be on recent developments, with an eye on the future. The agenda also includes PDF market analyses, next-generation PDF for mobile devices, universally accessible PDF files and the industry-supported veraPDF validator initiative.

The main event – May 14-15, 2018 – will include a broad range of presentations and discussions on current subjects affecting the world of PDF technology. May 16 will feature the PDF Days Post Conference, featuring a PDF 2.0 Interop Workshop for developers as well as several events organized by members of the PDF Association.

All of this will once again make PDF Days Europe the definitive meeting place for the PDF industry, where end users, developers and suppliers can learn about and discuss the latest trends in the PDF technology.
