PDF/A-3 ist ein “single Feature”-Normteil, eröffnet aber ganz neue Wege im Bereich des Dokumentenaustausches. Das lebende Dokument oder der maschinenlesbare Datensatz wird mit dem dazugehörigen Archivderivat in einer Datei fest verknüpft. Scandienstleister übergeben Dokumente sicher an den Auftraggeber. Die Kommunikation mit Kunden und Zulieferern wird vereinfacht. Auf der Empfängerseite kann zukünftig in vielen Fällen Data-Capturing vermieden werden, ohne gleich in starre Systeme wie EDI-Fact und ähnliches einzusteigen.
