Compart AG

Compart products are based on a self-developed generic data model. Using format specific filters, the data model accepts documents in most common formats and allows you to convert, format, process and display them in practically any target format required for archiving and output management. So far, filters have been developed for AFP, MO:DCA, PDF, PCL, PostScript, Metacode/DJDE, LCDS/DJDE, IPDS, IJPDS, RTF, SAP ALF and OTF, Lotus Notes etc. as well as formatter for XML (CSS) and SCL-FO, fulfilling the highest of requirements regarding rendition quality, performance and platform independence. Compart supports virtually all common system platforms, from Windows and UNIX up to zOS in the large server class.

Compart, located in Böblingen, was founded in 1992 and is an established supplier of software components in the areas of document and output management. The products that are developed at the headquarters in Böblingen are predominantly sold to integration partners all over the globe or are purchased by renowned OEM partners and sold as an integral part of their own solutions. Customers are primarily high-revenue companies with large document and print volumes in the financial, telecommunications, trade, industry, power generation and public sectors, as well as printing shops.

Compart and PDF/A
Since Compart predominantly offers products that prepare and convert common document data streams into formats that are required by a target system, the majority of customer projects where the components are being used have an archive as the target system being served. A typical example are COLD-applications, with the Compart DocBridge Mill being used for the output documents that a company prints. Large customers build the DocBridge Mill into their special archive environments, and OEM partners like IBM, FileNet, Easy, Saperion, d’velop, COI, SI Software Innovation, RSD and Beta Systems integrate it in their ECM-, DSM- or archive products. Compart was convinced that the PDF/A standard had the potential to be a generally recognized archive format ever since the AIIM-PDF/A initiative was founded. Since this time, the PDF input and output filters of Compart products that are based on the DocBridge Engine have been enhanced to support PDF/A. The PDF/A capability was available just shortly after the ISO standard was released. Now, these products can convert common archive and print data streams as well as Notes documents (e.g. mails) and their attachments into PDF/A compliant files.
