In his blog PDF Association board member Duff Johnson comments on the new PDF/UA Technical Implementation Guide published by AIIM’s US Committee for PDF/UA.
A mere 16 pages in length, the International Standard for accessible PDF technology is not an end-user guide and does not provide all the information software developers need to make applications to create and read accessible PDF files. PDF/UA merely specifies the way in which PDF technology must be used to produce accessible results.
In 2010 the US Committee for PDF/UA began developing a companion document for PDF/UA to provide additional information for developers working on PDF/UA implementations. The results are now available as PDF/UA-1 Technical Implementation Guide: Understanding ISO 14289-1 (PDF/UA-1).
