A PDF Association educational event for CIOs, IT managers, information professionals and records-managers, PDF/A Day is coming this August 16 immediately following the PDF Association’s Technical Conference North America 2013.
Hosted by Adobe Systems in their Seattle, WA lakeside offices, PDF/A Day is free of charge. Attendance is limited, so registration is required.
What is PDF/A Day?
PDF/A Day is about Education
PDF/A Day is a unique educational opportunity for end users to learn about the purpose, role, features and limitations of PDF/A, the archival standard for PDF.
With 12 sessions in two tracks, PDF/A Day presentations range from theory to practice, with lots of time for questions (see the Program, below).
This is an educational rather than a marketing event. While many of the experts presenting work for companies offering PDF/A solutions, there’s no trade-show at PDF/A Day. The goal is strictly high-quality, practical, usable information covering every aspect of PDF/A, not a sales-pitch.
A wide variety of technical experts will be on hand to provide answers, including many developers staying over from the previous day’s Technical Conference.
PDF/A Day packs as much user-oriented information about PDF/A into one day as anyone could want!

Travel to Seattle
Located in the state of Washington in the north-western United States, Seattle is world-famous for its physical beauty. It’s also the home of Microsoft, Boeing and a number of other major technology and aerospace companies.
PDF/A Day will occur at Adobe’s lakeside office complex at 801 N 34th St, Seattle, WA 98103. More information on local hotels is easy to find via yelp.com and other online travel sites. The conference site is approximately 30 minutes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, or “Sea-Tac” as the locals call it. Sea-Tac’s airport code is “SEA”.
From Sea-Tac Airport
Exit the airport northbound and take 518 west to Interstate 5. Follow I-5 north through downtown Seattle (don’t take the express lanes). Just after crossing the Ship Canal Bridge, take exit 169 for N. 45th Street. It’s a double exit; take the right exit (N. 45th), and then after the lanes split, keep left. Turn left onto N. 45th Street, cross over the highway, and continue west on N. 45th for one mile. At the eighth traffic light, turn left onto Stone Way. Continue down Stone Way and proceed through the intersection of 34th Street. Just after 34th Street, take a right onto N. Northlake Way and proceed into Adobe’s campus.
