The PDF/A Competence Center is holding its first international PDF/A Conference in Amsterdam this spring. PDF/A specialists from around the globe will be on-hand at the event, being held April 10th and 11th, 2008 in the Hilton Hotel.

The two-day conference features the newest trends and possibilities for using the ISO standard format for long-term archiving, presented by users from major international corporations, renowned developers and manufacturers, as well as international PDF/A experts. Speakers include Leonard Rosenthol (Technical Standards Evangelist) and Dr. Jim King (PDF Architect), both from Adobe Systems Inc., as well as Rory Staunton (Managing Director of Strategy Partners International) und Stephen Levenson (US District Courts). The sessions are split into different tracks, so participants can select a programme that best suits their own needs and level of knowledge. The first day offers presentations for novice and experienced users, as well as a special track for developers and IT experts. On the second day, the tracks are split into user branches: archives / libraries / public sector, construction / manufacturing / engineering, and finally business-to-customer, for example banks, insurances, and telecommunications companies.

Accompanying the conference is an exhibition of PDF/A-conforming products. PDF/A Competence Center members, including Beta Systems Software AG, callas software GmbH, Compart Systemhaus GmbH, DETEC GmbH, DocuCom (Switzerland) AG, Document Dialog B.V., icon Systemhaus GmbH, intarsys consulting GmbH, LuraTech Europe GmbH, PDF Tools AG, PDFlib GmbH, and SEAL Systems AG will be presenting their solutions for long-term archiving.

So far, over 100 people will already attend the PDF/A Conference! It will be a very international conference with attendees from more than 15 countries and also a lot of industries. Therefore, it will also be a very good (international) networking opportunity. E.g. the national libraries from Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland and UK will represent important european libraries.

Meanwhile over 170 persons from approximately 20 countries and all industries and organisations which have a need for long term archiving of documents have registered! Therefore we expect a very international conference with 200 to 250 attendees.
