Hello everyone,

I've read recently quite a lot about new ISO 19005-3:2012 standard. I'm interested in embedding functionality, but I was unlucky finding any PDF/A-3 sample with the actual attachment. I'm wondering if I can take PDF/A-1b file and alter the code to add some attachment. I know 1b is based on PDF 1.4 and 3 on PDF 1.7, but maybe it is possible. Anyone could give me some hint here? Also sample file (PDF/A-3 with att.) would be much appreciated :)

One of the easiest exercises might be to use a tool that already creates PDF/A-3b.

One such tool is "callas pdfaPilot 4". You can download it from http://www.callassoftware.com, and it will run as a fully functional trial version for one week. callas pdfaPilot 4 can create all flavors of PDF/A, either from existing PDF files or formats like Word, PowerPoint etc. or image file formats like TIFF, PNG, JPEG.

A typical use case in an office environment would be to ask callas pdfaPilot 4 to convert a Word file into PDF/A-3 and to embed the Word file.
