Berlin, Germany. This year, the perennially popular PDF Days Europe will be held on June 14 and 15, 2016. Hosted for the first time in Berlin, the event will be located in the city’s Mitte district. The event will kick off on Monday, June 13 2016 with the PDF Days Pre-Conference. The conference’s PDF University and PDF In Practice slots will be held entirely in English. As in previous years, the PDF Days Europe will act as a link between users and developers. The keynote, “Utilizing the PDF standard to drive business value”, will be delivered by Scott Mackey, Member of the PDF Association Board.

Almost every document – whether scanned from paper or created from a digital source – will eventually be converted into a PDF format. Whether used for file exchange, for archiving or as a basis for digital invoicing, PDF is the ISO standard for documents – and it is therefore of interest to all businesses. The first day of the PDF Days Europe will be the Educational Day, where attendees will be able to choose from a number of presentations including “Upcoming standard PDF/Raster”, “Disrupting the world of document creation and distribution”, “Mobile PDF scanning”, “Classification of PDF documents” and “The veraPDF project”. The latter presentation deals with a joint project between the Open Preservation Foundation and the PDF Association, which has been charged with developing an open-source PDF/A validator.

The second day is named Solution Day. Here, across a series of parallel sessions, users and developers will present best-practice solutions under titles such as “PDF and OpenType technology”, “Beyond the written word”, “Digital signatures”, “RGB workflow with PDF/X-4”, “Compare documents”, and “The ConnectedPDF ecosystem”. In parallel with the Pre-Conference on Monday, June 13 2016, Foxit and LuraTech will present an English-language workshop highlighting the Foxit Group’s PDF solutions. Attendees will learn more about mobile solutions, server solutions, and Connected PDF. “In all, attendees will be able to choose from just under 50 German- and English-language presentations, workshops and user reports in order to assemble their own personalized package of PDF knowledge”, said Thomas Zellmann, Managing Director of the PDF Association. “And Berlin is always worth a visit.”
