PDF Association’s Technical Conference 2012 Creates a New Expert Forum for PDF Standards

Targeted toward developers, system integrators, technical decision-makers and product managers, the PDF Association’s first Technical Conference 2012 will take place in Basel, March 27-28, 2012. The conference is open to both PDF Association member organizations and interested non-members as well.

Experts of the highest technical calibre will cover all aspects of current and future PDF standards such as PDF/A, PDF/VT, PDF/UA and PDF/X. Information at the conference will not be only a presentation, rather participants will have the opportunity to actively influence upcoming standards.

“With the Technical Conference 2012, we are offering a unique benefit to our members, says François Fernandès, acting head of the PDF Association’s Technical Working Group. “They have the opportunity to bring their development teams up to date on PDF standards over two intensive, cost-effective days.”

The conference will cover a range of themes, from processing incoming documents (scanning and OCR), to printing transparencies, device control using PDF/VT job tickets, embedded PDF/A files and signatures, and validation of existing PDF documents. Participants will have two presentations running in parallel to choose from at any time, allowing them to choose the most effective session for their needs.

Immediately after the welcome, the seven different PDF standards will be introduced in a “crash course” style overview: 7 Minutes with a PDF Standard by experts in each area. Additional presentations will provide opportunities for learning more about individual PDF standards.
Sessions will cover such topics as color data, scanned PDFs and OCR, and even fonts in the context of the standards. The conclusion of the event  will take a look at the prospects for PDF 3.0, as three visionaries each present possible scenarios.

Our line up of expert speakers ensures participants receive thorough training and answers to all their questions. There will be plenty of time across both days of the event for intensive exchanges of ideas.

View the full agenda and register now. Registration is 100 Euro for each member attending and 2,000 Euro for each non-member.

Web conferencing will be set up for PDF Association members who are unable to attend in person. Further information will be available soon.
