377 IT decision-makers indicate that PDF/A is nearly as well known as the TIFF and PDF archiving formats used up to now, and is even more recognized than JPEG. The fact that PDF/A is not yet widely used can be attributed to its publication as an ISO standard only two years ago. Technical Committee Vote: PDF 1.7 Accepted as an ISO Standard

The Portable Document Format – more precisely PDF Version 1.7 – was approved for standardization with a vote of 13:1 by the responsible ISO technical committee, as reported by James C. King (Senior Principal Scientist & PDF Architect, Adobe) in Inside PDF. The file format has thus completed a major step towards becoming an international standard.
